In northeastern Honduras, in the isolated region of La Mosquitia, the Miskito people have perpetuated a precious know-how for generations: the extraction of Batana oil.

Batana comes from the fruit of the American palm tree Elaeis oleifera. The nuts are hand-picked, boiled, then pressed using a method transmitted orally from mother to daughter. The result is a thick, deep brown oil with a characteristic woody scent — traditionally used to care for hair and scalp.

"The Tawira" — this is how some Miskito communities are nicknamed: the people with beautiful hair.

Why We Exist

We created myrootelia to make this heritage accessible, without betraying it. No dilution, no synthetic fragrance, no spectacular promises: a single, pure oil, presented honestly. We believe that a skincare brand is judged by what it includes — and what it refuses to include.
